Arsenal tracking £13m South American striker

Arsène Wenger will be looking to shake up the Arsenal squad this summer and he may be on the lookout for a new striker. Although Van Persie has been in excellent form since his return from injury there are doubts about the futures of Marouane Chamakh and Nicklas Bendtner. SkySports “understands that Wenger is interested in the young forward Jose Rondon and has been sending couts to watch him in action.
Rondon, 21, currently plays for Malaga in La Liga and has scored 14 goals in 29 games for the club this season. The Venuzuelan previously played for Aragua and Las Palmas in Spain before joining Malaga in 2010 for €3.5 million. The striker has played 11 games for the Venuzuelan national side in which he has scored three goals.
Malaga has recently been bought by a wealthy Middle-Eastern Sheikh and they may want to keep hold of the prolific youngster, however it is believed that an offer of around £13million may be enough to persuade Malaga to cash in on Rondo.
Meanwhile Arsenal are also thought to be interested in unsettled French forward Karim Benzema who has failed to win a regular place under Jose Mourinho this season. If Arsenal do make a move for either striker it is almost certain that Chamakh or Bendtner will leave the Emirates and it will also raise question marks over the future of Carlos Vela.
Rondon has helped the minnows Malaga rise as high as tenth in the Spanish Primera table. Could the 21 year-old make the switch to the Premier League successfully?
