Arshavin - Why I'm enjoying our Asia Tour

By Chris Harris

This is Andrey Arshavin's third pre-season as an Arsenal player and it's his most enjoyable yet.

The Russian playmaker landed in China on Thursday with the rest of the Club's touring party following a hugely successful stay in Malaysia.

Arshavin has already made his mark on the pitch - he set up the fourth goal in Arsenal's opening pre-season friendly - and he has immersed himself in off-field activities too, taking a trip to the famous Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

"Normally pre-season is the toughest time of the year for every player," said Arshavin. "But I think a trip like we are doing at the moment is really good for everyone - for players, for staff, for fans, for the whole club.

"That's why I'm happy that Arsenal are doing something like this for the first time since Arsène Wenger joined Arsenal.

"Maybe for preparation it's different because we are travelling a lot and there is no time to train twice a day, like we would do normally. But for the players it's better, because we are not based in just one place and only training.

"Out here we have had the chance to travel, meet different people, see the reaction from the fans, and see a different culture. For players, that's really good."
