Frimpong - Jack’s consistency is benchmark

By Giuseppe Muro

Emmanuel Frimpong believes Jack Wilshere’s ability to produce outstanding performances week-in, week-out has been the key to his success at Arsenal.

The PFA Young Player of the Year has flourished in his first full season in Arsène Wenger’s side, making a position at the heart of the Arsenal engine room his own with a string of sparkling displays.

Frimpong, who came through the ranks with the 19-year-old, feels that if other young players at the Club want to follow in Wilshere’s footsteps they must strive to reach his level of consistency.

“The thing that is different between Jack and most of the Arsenal Reserve players is that he is very consistent,” he told Arsenal TV Online. “You hardly ever see him have a bad game.

“We have got lots of players in the Reserves that are very good players, in my opinion even as good as Jack on their day. But they don’t have that day as often [and] that is where the difference is.

“To get into the first-team you have to be playing good all the time. We have to keep working hard if we want to get where Jack is. That is where we all want to be.”
